Electronic Cigarettes and Illinois
Friday, April 23rd, 2010Sen. Terry Link, a democrat in the Illinois State Senate, recently introduced a bill attempting to ban electronic cigarettes from the State of Illinois. I would like to think that he is an honest man and sincerely believes in his bill. However, it is my concern that his introduction of this bill is from his lack of information concerning E-Cigarettes. He can not possibly understand the fact that over 400,000 people die each year related to traditional tobacco smoking. Maybe, he does not realize how many people expose their children to 2nd and 3rd hand smoke. Quite possibly, he may not be aware of the millions of dollars in damage caused by fires from lit cigarettes each year. If there are over 50,000,000 people in the U.S. that smoke cigarettes, how many cigarette butts go out of car windows each day? Do you think Sen. Link has that information? Or, does he realize how many cellophane wrappers from freshly bought cigarettes get tossed on the ground as folks exit convenient stores each day. Is he aware of health care costs associated with tobacco smokers? Does he have a family member that has died a horrible death from tobacco cigarettes? It is my personal opinion that Sen. Link serves a power greater than himself and holds the citizens of Illinois as his highest priority. Clearly, his introduction of this bill was an accident…an accident I am sure he will correct.
It is my vision, and my staffs’, to put a dent in the 400,000 deaths associated with traditional tobacco smoking each year. We understand the controversy swirling around electronic cigarettes and promise only to bring the highest quality components, and fluids, to this market. If you smoke, stop it. Cigarettes will kill you! I am no stranger to the downside of smoking. I have witnessed my grandfather leave this world very swiftly from lung cancer, daily I visit a grandmother that is on her way out, my father has emphysema, and both of my uncles have C.O.P.D. This corporation was not built on profit potential, but on a serious vision to make a difference, I call on every lawmaker to share in that same vision.
